Owner & Artistic Director
Amy Courtenay - BA Hons Creative Performing Arts and MA Hons in Creative practice.
Amy is a professional theatre director, producer and actress. For the past 12 years she has taught in many prestigious stage schools and Universities throughout the North West of Wales and England. She has lectured for many Universities in Theatre and Performance Art Praxis at, LIPA, Salford, Liverpool Hope, Edge Hill, to name a few. Over the years, Amy has produced and directed many professional commercial, fringe and Theatre in Education productions, she is also a leading industry professional as one of the most diverse Community and Applied Theatre Practitioners in Education in the UK.
Amy founded Trap Door Theatre Productions in 2010 after having many years of experience, in setting up and creating new cutting edges curriculums in other stage schools such as L.I.P.A 4-19, Bluebell Dance and Drama Academy, Time Steps Theatre Arts, Topaz Stage School and Elliot Clarke. Following her training Amy continued her professional career combining being a successful stage and screen actress with continuing her love of teaching theatre in education development.
Amy is Lamda qualified.
Creative Director and Theatre Practitioner
BA Hons Creative Arts, PGCE Primary Education, Equity Professional. Pamela has been part of our team from the very beginning, Pamela has a wealth of experience and exciting teaching approach to to theatre. An inspiration for both students and faculty alike.
Pamela has been a professional theatre director and professional actress for many years and is also a leading theatre in education practitioner who creates bespoke theatre. She infuses her work with a vast knowledge of technical experience, theatre praxis, creative design and script writing.
Pamela has been a qualified Acting and Primary school teacher for over 45 years.
Bringing a wealth of experience to Trap Door having taught professionally in many prestigious Stage Schools and Theatre Companies, Pamela has also directed and performed in many professional productions on both screen and stage.
Possessing a Cert Ed, and diploma from the Royal School of Arts in Directing and Theatre Praxis and a Dip Ed in Creative Arts, Pamela is Lamda qualified
BA Hons Dance Practitioner
Catrin began dancing from an early at the Elsber School of Theatre and Dance, attending Ballet, Modern and Jazz classes; before discovering Contemporary dance aged 14. She then became a member of North East Wales Youth Dance Company and a National Dance Company of Wales Associate, being invited to perform for the Queen at the Wales Millennium Centre Opening Ceremony, in 2004.
Catrin undertook her professional training at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, one of only 8 specialist Conservatoires for Dance and Drama in the UK, completing the Foundation Course and Bachelor of Performing Arts (Hons) Degree in Contemporary Dance. Since graduating in 2011, Catrin has worked with Phoenix Dance Theatre for BBC 3’s live production of Frankenstein’s Wedding, X Factor’s Ashley Wallen and Tinchy Stryder, performed in the 2011 UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE Final Opening Ceremony at Wembley Stadium, and taught Jazz at Santa Teresa Ballet School in Brazil.
Catrin has also set up her own company Twist and shout 2020, for early learning students.
Most recently Catrin completed a UK Tour with 12 Degrees North Dance Company, based at The Lowry Theatre, performing a triple bill show of African, Contemporary and Physical Theatre works. Catrin is passionate about developing dance in North Wales and is thrilled to be part of the Trap Door team.
Sonia Kennedy BA Hons Drama and Theatre Studies & MA Hons Performance. We are thrilled that Sonia will be joining our team, Sonia has brought a fresh perspective and teaching approach to her position as Theatre Practitioner with her wealth of knowledge and experience in Drama & Theatre Studies and Performance.
